To me, the statement "no that is ok. I am good" in that context means don't do it.

Is it some kind of language difference? Would a reasonable person in the UK assume that that statement actually means "go head and post?"

I'm English as English can be, Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, Fish and Chips English, is me.
The statement "no that is OK. I am good means": No I'm happy with it, as it is. The term "I'm good" is new to us, we wouldn't have heard of it just 3 or 4 years ago and is what we call an Amercanism. Rest assured there is no way that statement can mean YES. JR1 is an ignorant imbecile, I told him not to answer to any of my postings he is an ignorant, arrogant, horrible individual. You can list this, I already had a go with this individual, previously, talking to me as if he's someone high and mighty, good riddance if he's gone. Graham Thirkill 098

Customer: "Are you out of bananas?"
Grocer: "Yes, we have no bananas."

Confused Customer: "Well, is it 'yes' or'no'?"
Confused Grocer: "It's 'YES', we have 'NO' bananas!"

Sorry that statement is not true...

But we often tell American tourists that out of 60millon population we can not be expected to know where their great great uncle lives.

Also "we" over the big pond SE of Idaho are a fairly well traveled lot. Indeed I will be in New England for 3 weeks in this year, something like my 20th time. It would have been more but 9/11 made travel to the states so difficult we went elsewhere for several years.
21.5% of Americans hold a passport (you can find lower and higher figures)
71% of British hold a passport.

This is possibly why Americans can some times be viewed as being insular (this is not a view I hold)

No offense intended, just a few observations, a google search and several photo shoots in London and conversations with tourists.

I think a good example of interpreting the written word whether it's English English or American English is to think of the occasional text messages that we get or send that conveys exactly the opposite of what was intended. Am I alone on this ?

IMO the Op's response was at best confusing. I know I am not from the UK but confusing is confusing no matter what side of the pond you are on. I do not believe JR1 intended to offend the OP but was just trying to help. He even stated that the OP's original was more natural after looking again. He can be harsh at times but is usually spot on and is a great resource for rookie photo bugs like myself. My vote is for reinstating JR1.!!!

This is a totally unjust suspension.
The OP has used words and grammar which are clearly confused and misleading. JR1 on more than one post has requested reassurance that what he was doing was entirely acceptable and even welcome. I will not reiterate the words, the above posts does that and suggests that a knee jerk reaction has taken place.

What does puzzle me is why has Admin jumped in on this one whilst ignoring more flagrant breaches of etiquette and rules in other posts?

I want to thank everyone who has contacted me personally and here on this post.

I do not talk behind peoples backs and I am more than happy for Admin to post MY communications here to show that I have been honest and not spoken ill of anyone, in fact I asked Admin to do whatever is best for the forum and not cause any rifts amongst members.

What really shook me was the responses from people like Wabbit and sarge69, who I am not singling them out especially, but we have never really seen face to face and yet, what they have done has made me "think" and I thank you, sincerely.

I did not mean any disrespect to the poster of the bird shots, it was a misunderstanding, and for that I offer my apologies.

Thank you one and all.

JR explained that he had a shot that he could either email or post. Overthemoon was replying that he had no problem with JR re posting the picture. The context of overthemoons statement is such that he is saying OK to re post. Think JR deserves a re-invite.

I have the kindness and understanding of the members here to thank for that, and also Admin, after all they could still have said no.

The point of my response was the lack of comments directed towards the poster from SE Idaho ( what part of the UK is that in ) Perhaps i need to specifiy that sorry not in the UK but this is my American understanding of the statement ( all this BS over a lack of a , between 2 words besides as i have seen of JR he'd do as he damn well pleased anyways )
