Trying to decide which itinerary to choose...can anyone who's been to both tell me the difference? Or are they about the same? We are much more interested in seeing wildlife than people or geological structures. :) Is one less busy with ships than the other? Thanks for any guidance you can give.

Pmorin's advice is perfect. I was there in 2018. It's a bucket list trip for travelers and photographers. I sailed and toured with Silver Seas for a seven day trip. I've cruised many times with many carriers and give SS very high marks as a cruise line. The itinerary was "Eastern" and they managed and guided the excursions extremely well!

I went to the Galapagos on a Silver Seas cruise in August 2018. It was amazing! The photography opportunities are endless. Have a great trip.

Your question was clear. I believe the tripod comment was intended to be humorous, not offensive. If you learn more, many of us would like to hear about it. Thanks for the provocative post & question.

I am seriously seeking inputs to help me understand the way some people view the covid-19 pandemic, that is, that covid is no worse than the seasonal flu. I am very interested in opinions that challenge my viewpoint, but, please don't respond with any comments that even hint at politics or references to political figures. That's not what this post is about.

How you judge the severity of the threat is a critical starting point for any discussion of the need for and value of countermeasures. I personally believe that the covid-19 threat is to be taken very seriously, especially by old folks like me, and that it is a much greater concern than the flu. I base this on my understanding of the following differences between covid-19 and the flu:

(a) Covid-19 is much more contagious than the flu
(b) Covid-19 is much deadlier than the flu
(c) Covid-19 survivors may have serious long-term health complications whereas flu patients generally don't
(d) We have vaccines for the flu but, at this time, none for covid-19

So, if you don't agree with my position and underlying rationale regarding the severity of the covid-19 pandemic, would you please tell me why you disagree?

If you agree with me, supporting (civil and non-political!) comments would also be of great interest.

Thanks!

I agree with your assessment and the science supports it. It is sad that it has become politicized.

This is not weird, it's just false. Some versions of Koontz' book refer to a Whuhan-400 virus, developed as a weapon. The passage about a prediction for 2020 is unrelated and doesn't come from a Koontz' novel or any reliable source. Whoever initiated this is a not-so-innocent prankster. Let's not help that person by perpetuating this nonsense.

If you can shoot video of the implosion from this perspective, it will be very impressive

I haven't seen hard data, but it would be no surprise if the lower end of the point and shoot market is affected by cell phone cameras. I use my phone for photos often because I always have it with me. It's great for convenience to take snapshots, (defined as an informal photograph taken quickly). When I care about quality, there's no phone that can do what the better DSLR's can do and I find no satisfaction in trying to do so with a phone. In my mind these are two different products for different purposes competing for the market in the middle ground between them.

I have Comcast for internet, TV and phone. They support and promote free software called nomorobo.
It safe, free and effective. Not all service providers support it yet.
