I have very poor typing skills. When I read what I typed for the first time, for some reason, I see what I am expecting to see; never my typos. Then I post it and only then do I see my errors. It is often very embarrassing. If I trust spell check, many words are correctly spelled but not at all the word I intended to use. I need word processing software that reads my mind.

I believe that I know. 85 is the journalists portrait grabber. Their "normal" may be a 35 so that 85 is quite a step up (vs when your normal is a 50). 85 is short and fast enuf for quick reportage style handheld "portraits", even in crappy light.

85mm is acoarst a Nikon FL. With Leica its 90. Note that I called it a "portrait grabber". Its not really a studio lens ... and anywho studio cameras are generally bigger. 85 and 90mm decend from rangfinder 35mm film kits. With RFs, the mechanical accuracy limited 105 and 135 lenses to slower max apperture, so 85 and 90 could be about a full stop faster than those longer lenses.

Thaz the deal in rather broad strokes. Broad strokes !! I now step aside so as to not get trampled as a herd of nit pickers rushes in.

I would think that journalists would prefer zoom lenses because of the unpredictability of the situations they cover.

Love the 'climent' too.

As to the source of the problems? Blame the symptoms, not the issue, overpopulation.

The entire population of Earth could live in and be sustained in the United States if the resources were used properly. Overpopulation isn't even close to being a problem. Equitable distribution of resources, given the nature of humans, is nearly impossible. We have huge population groups that are forced to live in almost uninhabitable locations because of politics, greed, religious differences, but mostly because of economics.

We have hugely overpopulated urban areas and sparsely populated countryside's in nearly every nation. We have political leaders that treat citizens like slaves on places like North Korea and keep people subdued and deprived of resources so powerful rulers can enjoy their elite status.

We have a world that is troubled by pointless hatred for no legitimate reason. The secret of prosperous countries is that they encourage people to innovate and reward them for doing-so. They celebrate success and accomplishments and support the needs of those who are disabled or unfortunate.

We have witnessed several nations rise-up concurrently with granting their citizens the opportunities to make the most of their lives. Most nations that keep their people in subjugation have either made no progress or have regressed.

I had three in my car. Two died completely, and the other one lost most of its six (I think) LEDs. All t did was flicker. I've never had an LED lightbulb in the house go bad.

I got these for the car a couple of weeks ago, so I have replacements available. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08VS52KCG?ref=product_details&th=1

We have 65 watt floodlight fixtures in our kitchen ceiling. We replaced them with 11-watt LED floods. The LED bulbs haven't lasted any longer than incandescent bulbs and, after a while they dim greatly in brightness. When new, they produce the same lumens of light as incandescent while using 20% of the energy, but they are expensive to buy, they dim with age and don't seem to last any longer. All the energy bill savings are consumed by the negative aspects of LED's.

LED's will outlast incandescent overall. However, it isn't always a matter of "plug and play".

The LED doesn't burn out in the same way as the incandescent; there's no filament. The part that goes bad is in the electronics itself.

We have replaced all but one of our incandescent bulbs in our home, even the fluorescent lamps. I have replaced a few of them, but they've long outlasted their predecessors. The only fixture is in a spare bedroom that has an incandescent bulb has had the same one since before we moved in in 1982. The light fixture is regularly used, and I have no idea why it's lasted this long.

Canon R1 official development announcement. Are you looking to add this camera to your kit?

I might, when I know more about its features and price. It's premature to make that decision based on what we know now. The R5 version II might end-up being a better choice for most photographers.

I have the R5 as well as the R7. It took a while but my 79 year-old mind has adapted to switching modes when I pick them up. I bought a Canon R and absolutely hated it. I took a huge loss in selling it. The money was used towards the purchase of my R-5, which I love.

When I bought the R7 I accumulated a few APS-C lenses and also use my RF lenses. Now that I am used to it, I like it. The R7 pixel pitch allows for very high resolution wildlife and youth sports photos where cropping is common.

In the 1960's we could buy a 21-inch color TV for $350 to $400 US dollars that only connected to an antenna and frequently could only show a picture with a green tint. Now, you can buy a 50-inch cable-ready TV with a 4K picture that shows amazing color in the same price range. Technology is amazing.

This morning I read a thought provoking post by Steve Perry on his web site that opened with, “ Warning - you might not like what I have to say.” I thought it would be amusing to throw a match in that gas can. What do you think on the topic Is Technology Killing Photography?

I think Technology is giving photographers more freedom to capture great images. In the "old days" when you had to guess at exposure, or take the time to use a light meter, we either risked a poor exposure, or losing time and opportunities.

Modern cameras that can be set to focus on the eyes, control exposure in many different ways, and quickly be set to read exposure based on a large, medium, small or spot area give photographers a lot of liberty to focus on achieving a great photo. Add-in the fact that modern cameras can employ focus and exposure bracketing, stay focused on a moving object and to many advanced features to list here, gives the photographer every advantage.

Lens and camera stabilization and high-resolution sensors add even more to the equation. Then, add the large capacity memory cards to the mix. We are really spoiled by technology. I would now like to see a camera that responds to the operator's voice commands.

HI FOLKS - I have never really done any BIF, my cameras are Nkion's a 7200 & 850 , , the back property line at my sons house - is a stream about 1/2 between a local lake & The Kennebec River that empties to the ocean. My son is going to advise me when the alewives are running ....... he ends up with adult & immature eagles & osprey on the hunt & fighting for territory or fish ... when this happens....... we will see if the old man can get a few images

is my Tammron 150 -600 too much zoom to find the action in the viewfinder & get an image ........ I am guessing I will be glad this is digital.......... back in film days a lot would be trashed.

yes I have other lenses ....

Thank you for the tips & suggestions ....... I also better remember bug dope- ticks....

It might be wise to invest in a polarizing filter. There will be a lot of sparkle in the water.

That said, 24MP seems to be a wonderful sweet spot. A noticeable difference to 20MP and not the overkill of 45MP.

I frequently take photos of groups of my grandchildren playing and being silly with my 45mp Canon R5. Often, I see a pose on one or more that is great. I enjoy being able to crop-in to that part of the image to print it or share it. It might just be 5 mp or 3 mp when cropped. Knowing it will be detailed is worth paying for the extra megapixels.

Bird and nature photography is another category where lots of pixels gives me an advantage.

I receive a notice similar in style to this maybe once a week.

They're not an Ethiopian Bank offering me $2.4 million or the IRS saying they're going to arrest me. They all seem a rather innocent ad for a financial advisor or insurance company and contain click tabs to "unsubscribe." Often, the sender is simply listed as "From a mailing list" which does seem suspicious. I clicked on the sender's address as you can see and it's absolutely no one I know but it also seems rather innocuous. Rather than unsubscribe, I just trash the message but to avoid further annoyances, I'm tempted to hit the unsubscribe button...or maybe I shouldn't.

Thoughts?

Recently, I have been getting authentic looking warnings such as "YOUR SIRIUS/XM PAYMENT HAS BEEN REJECTED aAND YOUR ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SUSPENDED." "CALL XXX-XXX-XXXX IMMEDIATELY FOR RESUMPTION OF SERVICE AND HAVE PAYMENT INFORMATION AVAILABLE."

I have logged into my Sirius/XM account and everything is fine. I turned on my car radios, and listened online and everything works.

Sometimes I am using the internet and a screen-hogging popup warning informs me that my computer is infected with a virus. It warns me to not shut down my computer and to call a "Microsoft" technical help phone number to resolve the issue. I always use task manager to shut down my browser software, reboot the computer and everything is fine. I usually pause for a moment and think "What if the warning is real this time?" So-far the threat has never been real.

First, I sincerely appreciate the generosity and support you have expressed. It means the world to me!

I tried to go to the clinic today, and after I filled out all their paperwork, the receptionist told me they couldn't see me because I was in an accident. They told me I have to go to the ER. I won't bore you all with the details, but right now, I am totally alone, and I just don't know if I have the courage to take this next step! LOTS of bad issues with doctor stuff, and some almost to the point of PTSD. I was finally getting happy with my life for the first time in a very long time, and I don't know if I want to do something that could end this. So that is my update!

Thanks again for all the care and concern!!!

The average clinic lacks the diagnostic equipment and specialists to deal with accident injuries. You may need X-rays, cat scans, MRI's to properly look into your body.

Go to an emergency room that is located in a hospital and get checked-out. You can't afford to take chances with your well-being.

The trucking company's liability insurance will pay for everything. Get a reputible personal injury lawyer.

Our house was built in 2008. The original built-in Whirlpool combination electric oven/microwave is still working except that the light bulb in the microwave is burned out. I know the combo unit is expensive because I have considered replacing it and didn't.

I guess you get what you pay for. There must be some countertop brand that will last that long. Keep researching.
