Z-8 Question

My wife just received her Z-8 (I can't afford one) and in the box was a coupon for a video to familiarize the new owner with the features and settings. After registering the camera, and following the coupon instructions, she never received the link to the video. We have downloaded the manuals and realize that there are videos on the Nikon site for the camera, but a brief introduction would be helpful. Of course, all of this happened on a long weekend.Wonder if anyone else has had that problem with Nikon and the Z-8.

Did the coupon have a link on it?

A number of other's have reported this on other photography boards. Sometimes it takes a day to receive the link! And others said they never did, even after checking their spam folders. I would suggest trying one of the many other Youtube videos on the Z8 or buying one of the ebooks on this camera, for example this one by Steve Perry (one of my favorite reviewers:

He also has a video that just is on focus settings:

Waited several days for Nikon to supply the proper link. She is an experienced photographer with her primary camera being an 850, but this is her first venture into mirrorless. The only link was one that said upon proper registration a link would be provided. She will call Nikon tomorrow to try to get the link.

Thanks! I'll pass it along to my loving wife! (The other one is out of town!)

I received the link and code. It didn’t work, something about it being invalid or already used. I might call Nikon but I have Steve Perry’s set up book so I might not worry about it.

There are many Z8 videos on YouTube. Also, look for Digitutor on YouTube. It's a Nikon informational channel. And, Steve Perry, of course.

Carl, until she gets the link, I suggest she look at these to links. (They may already have been suggested). The one from Ricci applies to just about any Nikon mirrorless camera. The one from Steve Perry is specific to the Z8/Z9 and is geared towards wildlife and bird photographers.

I am in exactly the same situation with my link! No go! As I have already watched some videos, and own two Z9s, I'm not sure what I missed! I've used the Z8 on three jobs and am very happy with its performance and handling. Best of luck.

I waited till today to try to scan and enter my Z8 info, in case I decided to return it. Also thought maybe the site would be less overwhelmed. Unfortunately, it couldn't even take in my registration! The site just spun and sat there and my serial number never loaded. Sad to see a company with the stature of Nikon can't even have a functioning web site.

Most audiences consider breaking a registration website after a huge sale week to be a red badge of courage and a significant marker of a successful introductory campaign.

What is it about photographers that make them, as a group, see it as a flopped introduction? Perhaps it's related to their tendency to have mental meltdowns when presented with actual facts to refute lore and misinformation.

I guess there's no chance, you or your internet provider was at fault. If this is the worst thing that happens to me in the world-of-Nikon, I'll survive just fine! Best of luck.

Well the Ugly Hedgehog site functioned during the same time with no problem! After several tries, did get Nikon to take my registration and after a bit, did get the promised email with the certificate that allows one to see the introductory video on the Z8. So now a bit more educated on the use of my camera though would agree with those who questioned why this had to be so difficult to see. One would think Nikon could just post a link to the video on its website. Guess it is a way to get people to Register their camera?

Funny, but I've had "We're having technical problems. Please try later" notices from several companies lately - credit card companies, for example.
