Weird color issue spotted...

I was looking at my monitor from an angle and noticed a weird greenish area in the picture I edited.

Using the magic wand tool, I made a narrow selection (2 tolerance).

I created a level layer and, from and angle, adjusted the area to dark (173, 1 255) and adjusted the selection with a low opacity. Now it is fine.

Weird is in the way I first spotted the issue and how I corrected it, looking at the monitor from an angle!!!

Monitors naturally show weird things when viewed at angles. Mine are generally too light when viewed from a high angle and too dark when viewed from below.

Also...when viewed at an angle, that angle is not the same across the width (when viewed from the side) or from top to bottom (when viewed from above or below).

They are most reliable when viewed from straight-on, or close to it. I would not have gotten excited about weird results resulting from an angled view. Nor would I have made corrections based on such a view. If your corrections did produce accurate results, I'd suspect that your monitor is failing.

Monitor is not at fault, quite the contrary.

Here is a probe window capture made using three areas.

► #1 - Deep black (reference).
► #2 - Green area I first noticed.
► #3 - Another red area become noticeable under the same conditions.

If I look straight on, there is no issue.

To be honest, I do not know how these patches were created, but now it annoys the heck out of me. That is the only thing I notice if not corrected.
