Canon Pro 9000 II Printer Problem

Out of the blue today the printer started printing way off color prints. Utility test showed everything to be fine except yellow did not print at all despite being a full cartridge. Nozzle cleaning accomplished nothing. Examining the yellow tank shows plenty of ink remaining, but when I press finger to the ink pad, very little yellow comes out to stain tissue applied with pressure. Anyone familiar with this problem and solution? Will replace the yellow cartridge tomorrow although with my luck it is much more likely that something has really clogged up the yellow nozzle? Or could it be a software problem/printer driver problem?

Sounds like a clog. If the cartridge, replace it or you could try setting it on a cloth/paper wetted with isopropyl alcohol to see if it dilutes it enough to get flowing again.

You can also try this with the print head.

Have the same printer now for many years and have not had any problems like you describe. Before attempting to do anything call Canon tech support to discuss problem . Good luck! Will be looking to see what they tell you and did it solve the problem ...in anticipation if that happens to my printer .

Had a similar problem some years ago - everything had a magenta tint. Tried everything I could think of or find out. Nothing worked. Printer was about 3 1/2 years old and I was about ready to throw it out when I found the extended warranty I had purchased with it from CompUSA. Called their number and ultimately it was agreed that the printer would be replaced. It was, and a week later CompUSA dissolved. The new, now old printer has been working fine since.

Exactly my problem..magenta tint, on testing not printing yellow. Will purchase a yellow replacement cartridge today and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks!

I have Pima pro 9500mk2 and have trouble in the past when upgrading Lightroom having that magenta cast (gobbles ink) after thorough research I found that if you let the 'managed by printer' was the problem disable this feature and the prints will be spot on to what you see (the print preview box that appears before press print looks awful ignore it) hope this helps

Thanks but that is not the problem. When I print out a utility test page I get nothing printed at all in the yellow panel. I actually squeezed yellow ink into the opening of the cartridge, reinserted, did two deep cleanings...and still no yellow print. And of course Canon customer service is closed on weekend. I suspect this is going to be a print head issue.

I have a problem with prints coming out faded & lacking in detail. Have cleaned, deep cleaned, nozzle checked, roller cleaned, replaced "almost empty" ink tanks & still no difference.

Just an idea, will "after-market" inks give these results? Ink Farm has been great for me so far but wondering if they expire after a long period of non-use.

I don't know about his jets but I might try the alcohol fix. Printer has been idle for about 8 months. Or, driver needs updating. Looking for ideas.

Spacey...you totally missed the point. You are chiming in trying to fix a problem that occurred 9 years ago. By now, nobody cares if he figured it out or not.

Actually, I have a CURRENT problem. Maybe I'm in the wrong place. My Pixma Pro 9000 Mark II has started producing faded prints, lacking in detail. Tried nozzle check, cleaning 3X, deep cleaning. No luck. I did get a "new" computer recently. Any ideas?

Instead of replying to a 9 year old thread you should just start a new thread about the subject.

Ok. Hope I don't get attacked for not going to a specific thread.
